Rexipra 20 mg
Rexipra 20 mg is used for the treatment of major depression, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Rexipra is used for acute as well as maintenance treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults as well as adolescents aged between 12 to 17 years of age. It is also used for acute treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
Rexipra is sometimes prescribed off-label to treat other indications like social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The active ingredient present in Rexipra is Escitalopram.
Take Rexipra 20 mg with a glass of water once daily, with or without food. Take the Rexipra at the same time for as long as they have been prescribed. You may have to take this medication for a long period of time depending on your condition. Your doctor may increase your dose, depending on what you are being treated for.
The common side effects observed when undergoing treatment with Rexipra 20 mg are dry mouth, increased sweating, headache, paraesthesia, dizziness, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, indigestion, abdominal pain, vomiting, flatulence, influenza-like symptoms, fatigue, abnormal dreaming, lethargy, insomnia, somnolence, decreased appetite, decreased libido, yawning, rhinitis, sinusitis, ejaculation disorder, impotence, anorgasmia and menstrual disorders.
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: skin rash or hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have any new or worsening symptoms such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, fast or uneven heartbeats, tremors, overactive reflexes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, feeling unsteady, loss of coordination, headache, trouble concentrating, memory problems, weakness, confusion, hallucinations, fainting, seizure, shallow breathing or breathing that stops
Less serious side effects may include: drowsiness, dizziness, sleep problems (insomnia), mild nausea, gas, heartburn, upset stomach, constipation, weight changes, decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm, dry mouth, yawning, ringing in your ears. This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur.
